Validate signed documents with PDF Document Validator
If you are unsure whether a document was signed with Addo Sign, you can use a validation tool to verify the transaction, certificates, and seal.
The validation tool provides clarity and reassurance about the document's signature status and validity.
You can access PDF Document Validator here.
What is PDF Document Validator?
PDF Document Validator is a tool that checks whether a signed document is valid and correctly sealed with GlobalSign. It reviews information about the transaction, certificate, and sealing process so you can confirm whether the document has been signed and sealed correctly.
GlobalSign acts as the Certificate Authority. As a trusted provider of digital certificates, GlobalSign helps ensure that documents are authentic, unchanged, and protected against manipulation after signing
Before you start: Microsoft Edge
If you use Microsoft Edge, you must install the required certificate on your Windows computer before using PDF Document Validator.
Without the certificate, PDF Document Validator does not work correctly in Microsoft Edge.

How PDF Document Validator works
The validation process is quick and simple:
Open PDF Document Validator using the existing link: https://validatedoc.net/documentvalidator
Upload the PDF document you want to validate by clicking Upload Document.
The tool analyses the document and generates a validation report.
If the tool displays warnings, for example about links in the document, review the highlighted content and make sure it matches the original document. This helps confirm the integrity of the document.
You can then see whether the document has been signed correctly and whether the certificate used to seal it is still valid and intact.
Example of a correctly validated PDF
Below is an example of a PDF document that has been correctly validated after signing with MitID:
Invalid signature
If a signature is invalid, regardless of the reason, or if the document was not signed with Addo Sign, you will instead see an error message and an icon indicating that the signature cannot be verified:
Other messages in Document Validator
Document Validator can also provide information about other content in the document you are validating.
Hyperlinks
If your signed document is valid but contains hyperlinks, Document Validator will inform you that the signature is valid but that the content the links refer to cannot be validated. This is because external content can be changed by the content owner at any time.
To make sure that the signature is still valid, compare the hyperlinks highlighted by the validator with those in the PDF document. If they match, the signature is still valid, and the warning is most likely caused by the presence of external links rather than changes to the signed content.
Supported signing methods
PDF Document Validator supports different signing types used with Addo Sign, including:
Efos
Freja
Freja+
FrejaOrg
FTN
MitID
MitID Erhverv
Norwegian BankID
OK button
SITHS
Swedish BankID

Who can use PDF Document Validator?
Anyone who needs to verify the authenticity of a signed document can use this tool, including individuals, companies, and organisations. Whether you receive legal documents, contracts, or agreements, the service helps ensure their validity and authenticity.
With PDF Document Validator from Addo Sign, you can be confident that your documents have been correctly signed and sealed using secure and recognised certificates.
Handling signing links
When you extend the active period of a transaction, it is important to understand how signing links work:
Validity of existing signing links
If the transaction has not yet expired, the signing link sent to the signer's email will remain active and functional during the extended period.
This ensures that signers can continue to access and complete the signing process without interruption.
