Edit signing details on a sent transaction

This article explains how to edit selected signing details on a transaction that has already been sent.

Use this option when you need to update signing-level information, such as the expiration date, notification intervals, signing note, or reference number.

Before you start

Signing details are edited separately from Transaction details.

Use Signing details when you need to update settings that apply to the transaction as a whole. This includes Expiration date, Send notifications every, Final notification, Signing note, and Reference number.

Use Transaction details instead when you need to update signer-specific information, such as the signer’s name, e-mail address, phone number, title, authentication method, or signature method.

You can only edit signing details while the transaction status still allows changes.

What can be changed in Signing details?

Depending on the transaction setup, you can edit:

  • Expiration date

  • Send notifications every

  • Final notification

  • Signing note

  • Reference number

Some fields in Signing details are shown for information only and cannot be edited, for example Sender name, Sender’s email, Created, Signing ID, and Signing token.

Edit signing details

  1. Go to Overview.

  2. Open the transaction you want to update.

  3. Open Signing details.

  4. Click Edit.

  5. Update the relevant fields.

  6. Click Save.

Use Signing details to update expiration date, notification intervals, signing note, and reference number.

The changes apply immediately, and the original signing link remains valid.

About expiration date

Message fields

Message fields are not part of Signing details.

If message fields are greyed out, they may be controlled by the template used for the transaction. Messages cannot be edited after a transaction has been sent.

If you cannot edit signing details

If you cannot edit signing details, check whether:

  • The transaction status still allows changes

  • You opened Signing details

  • You clicked Edit

  • The field is editable

  • The field is controlled by the template

  • You clicked Save after making changes

  • Whether the transaction status still allows changes

  • Whether you are editing Signing details and not Transaction details

  • Whether the field is editable

  • Whether the field is controlled by the template

  • Whether you clicked Save after updating the field

If you still need help, include:

  • Transaction ID

  • Signing ID

  • Current transaction status

  • Field you tried to edit

  • Screenshot of the field or error message
