Change the expiration date of a transaction

This article explains how to change the expiration date of a transaction in Addo Sign.

Use this option when a transaction with the status Started needs a new expiration date.

Before you start

You can only change the expiration date if the transaction has the status Started.

If the transaction has another status, the expiration date cannot be changed from the signing details.

Expiration is calculated as a number of active days rather than only as a fixed calendar date.

⚠️ Important: The expiration date can be set up to 90 days in the future. This limit is calculated from the transaction’s creation date.

If the transaction has already expired, you may need to reactivate it instead. Reactivation is covered in the separate article Reactivate a transaction. A transaction can be reactivated if it expired less than 10 days ago or if it has failed.

Change the expiration date

  1. Go to Overview.

  2. Open the transaction you want to update.

  3. If the transaction has multiple signers, select one of the signers listed on the transaction.

  4. Open Signing details:

Open Signing details from the transaction window.

  5. Click Edit:

Use Edit in Signing details to update the expiration date and manage notifications sent to signers.

  6. Select the new expiration date.

  7. Click Save.

Select the new expiration date and save the change.

The updated expiration date applies to the transaction, and the original signing link remains valid.

If you cannot change the expiration date

If you cannot change the expiration date, check whether:

  • The transaction has the status Started

  • The transaction has already expired

  • The selected expiration date is within the allowed 90-day limit

  • You have access to edit the transaction

  • You clicked Save after selecting the new expiration date

If the transaction has expired or failed, use Reactivate a transaction instead.

Before contacting support

Before contacting Addo Sign Support, you should check:

  • Whether the transaction has the status Started

  • Whether the selected expiration date is within 90 days of the transaction’s creation date

  • Whether you opened Signing details

  • Whether you clicked Edit

  • Whether you clicked Save after changing the date

  • Whether the transaction has expired or failed and should be reactivated instead

If you still need help, include:

  • Transaction ID

  • Signing ID

  • Current transaction status

  • Original expiration date

  • New expiration date you tried to set

  • Screenshot of the expiration date field or error message
