Cancel a transaction

This article explains how to cancel a transaction in Addo Sign and what happens when a transaction is cancelled.

Use Abort signing when a transaction should no longer be completed by the signers.

Before you start

You can cancel a transaction from the Overview tab when the "Abort signing" option is available in the transaction menu. When you cancel a transaction, the cancellation applies to the entire transaction. This includes all signers, even those who may already have completed their part.

Signers are not automatically notified when a transaction is cancelled.

The cancelled transaction will still appear in the Overview.

⚠️ Important: If you select Anonymize transaction when cancelling the transaction, personal data for all recipients is immediately anonymized and replaced with asterisks (*). This includes information such as name, e-mail address, and phone number.

How to cancel a transaction

  1. Go to the Overview tab

  2. Click the transaction row to open the transaction you want to cancel

  3. Click the three dots (⋯) in the top-right corner of the transaction window

  4. Select Abort signing:

  5. Confirm the cancellation in the pop-up window:

The transaction is now cancelled.

What happens after cancellation?

When the transaction is cancelled:

  • The transaction can no longer be completed by signers

  • The cancellation applies to all signers on the transaction

  • Signers are not automatically notified

  • The transaction still appears in Overview

  • Personal data is anonymized immediately if you selected Anonymize transaction during cancellation

Cancelled transactions cannot be reactivated.

If you need to send a corrected version of the transaction, create a new transaction or use the separate article about copying a transaction.

If you cannot cancel a transaction

If Abort signing is not available, check whether:

  • The transaction status allows cancellation

  • You have access to manage the transaction

  • You opened the correct transaction in Overview

  • The transaction has already ended

  • The transaction has already been cancelled, expired, rejected, failed, or completed

  • The transaction belongs to another user, group, or account

If the transaction cannot be cancelled, review the transaction status and available actions in the transaction menu.
